Awarded following the successful refurbishment of Ward 7 in 2021, a strip out of Ward 1 was undertaken to allow for a full refurbishment and new layout providing additional toilets, shower rooms and office space.

The ward was decorated throughout featuring bespoke graphics on walls and glazed areas. Specialist medical gas facilities were installed within the tight ceiling voids, with hygienic bulkheads installed in the ward bays. This allowed all services to enter the area unseen, conforming with infection control measures. Trovex Hygidoors and Hygipods were fitted, with a bespoke reception desk and nurse spaces. A new drug preparation area was formed, with Omnicell units installed to dispense medication.

The project was carried out whilst the neighbouring wards remained operational
